Meet our team

  • Lakeisha Swain, MA, LPC,LSATP

    CEO/Owner

Hello, my name is Lakeisha, and I am the owner of Tandem Behavioral Health. To say that I am working in my dream job, would be an understatement. I absolutely love what I do, and who I do it for. Whether you are seeking therapy for yourself or your family, or you are seeing us to work on an addiction, I promise that you will be treated with care and concern. I pride myself on being ethical, warm and having respect for every individual, no matter who you are or where you are from. I assure you that each of our counselors and therapists will uphold and model the values that personal hold for this agency. If you are ever, not satisfied with your care, please reach out to me directly.

Although, I am currently not accepting new clients at this time, I think that it is important for you to know about me, so that you will know that you are in good hands. I received my Masters Degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University in 2015. I became fully licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor, in 2018. After 2 years of licensure, I obtained an additional credential as an LPC supervisor. This credential allows me the opportunity to provide clinical supervision to Residents In Counseling, to ensure that they are knowledgeable, ethically, and therapeutic before they are independently licensed. I personally know that each of the residents that work for Tandem Behavioral Health possess all of these characteristics, because I supervise them. In addition to working with those living with mental illness, I have several years of experience working in Addictions, and I am a Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner with the Virginia Board of Counseling. I enjoy work with individuals that are struggling with an addiction, and helping them on their road to recovery. Recovery is real, and it can and will happen for you. When I am not working in addictions, I do see a small caseload of clients for individual counseling. My therapy modality is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), as I have found that this modality is effective for various issues that individuals may struggle with. Last, I see clients that are preparing to have Bariatric surgery or are struggling with their relationship with food. I have a passion for this population, because I have been there and know the struggle. Regardless of what brought you to our site, there is something that is pushing you to get help. The time is now, do it!

  • Ayla Sharp, MA, Resident In Counseling

    Hey,

My name is Ayla and I am a Resident in Counseling. I feel like it is important to be transparent, so

here is a little about me. I earned my bachelor’s in Health Psychology back in 2013 from Jefferson

College of Health Sciences. After graduating with my bachelor’s I worked as a Qualified Mental Health

Professional-Adult (QMHP-A) for several years and eventually moving into substance abuse counseling.

Growing to love the field of mental health and helping individual achieve their goals, I decided to expand

my education and apply to graduate school. I recently graduated with my Master’s in Clinical Mental

Health Counseling from Southern New Hampshire University. It is important to me to build a trusting

rapport with each of my clients. I want my client’s to feel comfortable with confiding in me. I use a

mixture of person-centered therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy during my sessions. In my free

    around friends and family.
